Reddy-the icon of the youth in the year 2017.There was not one young man or woman who didn't know about the notorious Arjun Reddy. Though the remakes like Kabir Singh and Aditya Varma have released, nothing can beat the original.Starring Vijay Deverakonda, who rose to fame after this one movie, and Shalini Pandey in lead roles, the movie tells us about a rejected lover who turns to the refuge of drugs and alcohol and uncontrolled smoking. As every love story begins, Arjun Reddy also saw his lover, Preethi Shetty, in college. And that turns out to be his family friend. This gets them close and they began dating each other very soon. But as years passed, Preethi's parents objected to their wedding. Dejected, Arjun injects morphine and tried to suicide,but failed. When he regained consciousness, he realised that Shalini had married a Tulu boy from her own caste. Though he attempts to block the wedding, he fails. This makes him go into hiding and start a job in a hospital as surgeon and start drugs in huge amounts.Things get worse when he became partly unconscious during a major operation and gets debarred from the Medical profession. The death of his grandma became another big blow to him. This makes him stop alcohol and drugs. His family accepts him back. And one fine day, he sees a pregnant Preethi in a park and takes it to be her child. But the next day, she reveals that it is his child. Both reunites and lives with their parents consent.
Arjun Reddy is a typical love story but it has the cult of arrogance, sexual satisfaction which is absent in most of the South Indian movies. This makes Arjun Reddy different from other movies. And for the youth this was a depiction of their lives, and their love failures seemed similar. Thus it was appreciated well among the audience though it had an A Certificate. Sandeep Vanga has indeed put his best and so is Vijay with his exceptional acting.
